I believe that the best way to discover “the self” is through our interactions in our important relationships. Psychotherapy is a valuable investment in authentically knowing how we are experienced. Each day, we make dozens of choices on how to improve our lives. For example, material investments like hand-held technological gadgets have made communication more efficient, but they have not necessarily promoted long-term gratification. Psychotherapy is an important investment of time and resources that can pay off dividends for years to come.
I first acknowledge that my clients are making a courageous decision to know themselves more deeply in therapy. From the insights gained in the therapy room, I have seen clients make behavioral changes to control long-standing habitual thought patterns and troublesome behaviors, as well commit to making wiser choices in their relationships.
